The big prize, obviously, is California with its 415 delegates. To understand its impact on the 2020 primary, think of it this way: In the four early states that have voted so far — Iowa, New Hampshire, Nevada and South Carolina — 155 delegates have been up for grabs. California alone offers nearly three times that many.
Texas is the next biggest prize with 228 delegates. More votes will be cast in Houston’s Harris County alone then in all of Iowa.
